Live music is central to West Fest and the continuing success of the event is a reflection of the huge wealth of talent in the local area, for which organisers and visitors alike are most grateful.

Want to Perform?

Following the success of West Fest 2010, we will be accepting submissions for West Fest 2011 later in the year, around Autumn time - watch this space then for an announcement as to when and how to go about it...

West Fest gives artists the chance to play in front of hundreds, possibly thousands, of people, a great day out and the satisfaction of raising money for some very worthwhile causes. Your photo may appear on the web site afterwards, your MySpace page will be in our top friends and you may appear in any Podcast or DVD made of the day. The local press may turn up and photograph you.

In line with West Fest's charity ethos, we don't pay fees or expenses to the artists (or the sound man, stage crew, MC or anyone else), and there is no guest list. Everyone who performs, though, does receive free vouchers for food and drink.

Music Policy

We're essentially interested in live performances of music, but dance and other performance arts will also be considered.
Any kind of music will be considered - we try to put on as broad a range as possible. We get lots of rock bands applying and hence wish to encourage performers in other genres to apply - jazz, folk, classical, and so on.
West Fest is a family event, so acts unsuitable for children won't be booked.
We do not book DJs or performers who use substantial amounts of recorded or pre-programmed material.
We try to vary the line-up from year to year, so if you play one year you may have to make way for someone else the next year.

Small Print

The committee's selection ultimately reflects the taste of the members, their view of what our audience likes and the experience of previous festivals. We are biased towards local acts. As a reward for their hard work each committee member may be invited to have their own band play. Constructive suggestions are invited by email to music@west-fest.org.uk; anonymous submissions will be ignored. If you're application to play is unsuccessful please accept it with good grace and you may be offered a slot next year — we get very many more applications than we have slots.
